Manga is the Japanese word for comics or cartoons in print. It actually holds a higher place in Japanese culture than comics do in American society. It is thought of as a form of art as well as popular literature. Several million copies of Japanese Manga magazines are sold each week.
Manga although thought of as a modern art has been around for over a thousand years. However, today, Manga has it’s own style of artwork and style. Such styles which include the face, nose, forehead, chin and eyes are but the popular.
Manga artful pictures and stories cater to everyone’s tastes. There are hundreds to choose from. Reading Manga books are a bit different (opposite really) to reading that of English. You actually start from the back of the book and read right to the left.
I personally have found reading Manga a pleasant experience. My children are involved with it as well and have some of it’s writing and artwork in the form of posters on their walls as well as desktop artwork on their PC’s.
To enjoy the beauty of Manga, one does not need to go to Japan. I have found Manga books simply by doing a search on the Internet through Amazon.com. Your local library might hold these books as well. People twitter about it. I have found that you can even take courses of Manga writing on the Internet as well. It is pretty amazing.

On a different note, the copy I wrote for crown was well liked! You can see it on the the red diesel suppliers page if you are bored enough to want to check it out. Alternatively google Escaflowne and watch it - one of the best bits of Manga I’ve seen in ages
